Giving individual grants
Monetary grants are made to individual children whose caregivers apply for assistance so they can participate in activities such as music lessons, clubs and organisations, sports groups and school activities.
Making donations to groups
As funds allow, CREST makes donations to local charities which assist children. Examples include Be Heard Children’s Counselling Trust, Edmund Rice Camps, IDFNZ Kids Foundation and Youthline.
Joining community events
CREST participates in community events such as the Santa Parade, usually transporting a Saturday morning music class orchestra, and Special Rigs for Special Kids at the Edgar Stadium.
Enhancing the Garden
CREST rides provide easy access to the Dunedin Botanic Garden, especially for elderly and disabled visitors. Many seniors, rest home groups, schools and visitors enjoy the rides each year.
With commentaries on the history, features and plants, CREST adds to the Garden’s attraction for all visitors, including tourists.
